Shala |
A Sumerian mountain goddess of grain. Sometimes referred to as the "corn maiden". She was the wife of Ishkur. Her sanctuary was at Karkara called E.durku, 'House, the Pure Abode,' most likely located within the temple of Ishkur, the 'E.Karkara.' In earlier years, Shala was known as Gubarra, 'Flame Lady of the border of Eden." She was mother of Gibil, the Sumerian Fire god. |
